Few thanks on the ombl site

Thanks to all at Carterton for a great day today. The pitches in great shape as usual and the usual Carterton suntan is in place.

Some exciting games throughout the day and our boys going home very happy after a gripping Radley A v Radley B U12 final. A shared trophy after a nil nil draw and 10 from 16 not wanting to take penalties!!

Thanks for a great day, see you next year.

Thank you to everyone at Carterton for the tournament today and well done to Radley for winning the under 14's final. A very strong dominance from the Oxford Mail league in the knockout stages.   Nigel Crowmarsh Youth.

Cheers mate, a great day and a couple of the lads nearly got a kiss at the end too which made Stuart and all of us laugh

Great tournament. Well done to Tower Hill who were U15 winners.

Many thanks to Carterton for a great tournament. Very well organised tournament and lovely pitches. Very good standard of football being played by twenty-one teams in the Under 10's.
Well done to Horspath Under 10's who won their final 3-0 against Carterton Blue with some exceptional football being played !
I am also proud to say that Josh Tooke of Horspath won the "Player of the Tournament" award. The player was voted by the referees.
Thanks again Carterton for a great day.

One of the best tournaments around my sixth year at Carterton tournament and i will be back next year.  Many Thanks  Stuart  Radley Youth FC

U11s Eleven-a-side Tournament                                      "The Harry Truman Memorial Trophy"

Sun 31 Aug 08 at Kilkenny Lane - Registration 10.00 am - Kick-off (first Match) 10.30 am. Matches 15 min each way.

Participating teams:    Carterton FC    Carterton Colts        Tower Hill             Tower Hill All Stars                Deddington Colts FC

CARTERTON COLTS U11s TOURNAMENT REPORT

The Harry Memorial Trophy was a competition played at Kilkenny Lane, on 31 Aug 08, for teams that were about to play competitive 11-a-side football for the first time this coming season. Carterton FC, Carterton Colts, Tower Hill, Deddington Colts and Tower Hill Stars were the teams involved, playing in a league format with the winner being the side with the most points at the end of the competition after each team had played each other once.

The tournament got under way with Carterton Colts playing Tower Hill. These two sides have played each other twice in friendlies recently and both resulted in a draw, this game was again proving to be a competitive and close encounter. After a scrappy first half there was little to choose between the two sides with both defences on top, which resulted in a goalless first half. Although still a close game Carterton Colts began to gain the upper hand and started to dominate possession. With the game entering the latter stages the Carterton captain Josh Herbert struck a superb shot from 20 yards, which flew into the top right hand corner, giving the Colts a hard fought but well deserved victory.

The Colts next game was against Tower Hill Stars, which proved not to be such a close game as the first. Carterton dominated from the start and put huge pressure on the All Stars defense. This continued throughout the match and resulted in the Colts winning 3-0 with the goals coming from Jack Davies, Thomas Harvey and an OG.

After two wins Carterton entered the next game in extremely confident mood. However, their opponents Deddington Colts had also been playing well and had won and drawn their opening two games. Carterton started brightly and created a couple of early chances which they failed to convert. At the other end the defense was looking strong with the midfield working hard. Thomas Harvey made a good run into the box and was fouled, Josh Herbert stepped up and coolly put the ball into the top left hand corner to give the Colts a 1-0 lead. Carterton continued to play well and Lewis Smith added a well taken goal in the second half to give them a 2-0 win.

Carterton Colts last match of the tournament was against Carterton FC. Carterton Colts started brightly and looked the stronger of the two teams, which resulted in an early goal. As the match progressed the Colts took advantage as Carterton began to tire. The final result was 9-0 with goals from Thomas Harvey(2), Richard Matthews(2), Jack Davies, Lewis Smith and an excellent hatrick from Joe Kaluza.

Overall an excellent day for Carterton Colts who won the tournament by winning all four of their games without conceding a goal. They played some excellent football throughout and worked extremely hard. I would like to say thanks to Bill Jenkins for organizing the tournament and Carterton FC for providing excellent facilities. I thought the day was a huge success and has helped prepare the players and coaches for this coming seasons 11-a-side league fixtures.
